Washington, D.C–

When the season started and the two games against the Pacers appeared on back-to-back nights, many thought it was an error, well it clearly wasn’t an error, but it did become a two-round battle of two of the worst teams in the NBA. The Wizards battled it out against another roster of guys you had to look up and took a 112-105 victory.

Bub Carrington and Anthony Gill each scored 13 points and helped spark a decisive fourth-quarter run as the Washington Wizards grabbed a much-needed victory after the All-Star break, or did they? The question this late in the season, do they need to keep winning games to get to that real victory in the NBA Draft?

Jarace Walker scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Pacers, who fell to 2-3 during a season-long, six-game road trip wrapped around the All-Star break.

The Wizards led by 17 early in the third quarter before the Pacers responded with a 14-3 run to take a 92-91 lead early in the fourth.

While the Wizards made a run that is a good look going forward for this young team, another question that comes up is how many of these guys are going to be around if Trae Young and Anthony Davis are both on the floor at the same time. All of this is expected to be part of the big picture for next season.

Round 2 of this best of the bottom of the NBA continues tomorrow night. Can the Wizards have another night like tonight and show they have the promise for 2027 of young talent that adds up to winning 45 games next season?
