Washington, D.C–

Tonight, featured the homecoming for former Maryland Terp, Derik Queen and the New Orleans Pelicans and there was no shortage of offense by the Queen, who recorded a triple double in the 128-107 victory.

Trey Murphy III scored 35 points; Zion Williamson added 31 in a game that was widely controlled by the Pelicans from start to finish.

With the performance tonight by the Pelicans, it was hard to believe that they had lost 9 straight games with the domination on the court, mostly from Williamson and Queen on the inside.

New Orleans led 60-50 at halftime and extended its advantage to 21 in the third quarter. Washington got back to within 10 in the fourth, but a 21-5 run by the Pelicans made it a blowout again.

Despite the loss tonight, the Wizards had plenty of good news today with the arrival of Trae Young, who represents the All-Star caliber player they have been looking for a couple of seasons.

While there is no official timeline on his return to the line-up, there is a chance he could return after the NBA All Star break. At this point, anything will help the Wizards going into next season.

The Wizards head on the road starting Sunday in Phoenix and maybe the bench energy by Young will work for now and perhaps a better performance than tonight, otherwise it could be another rough stretch for the Wizards for the balance of the month.

Washington did get some other good news tonight with the 1000th point scored by Keyshawn George in his young career. He finished with 15 points tonight.
