College Park, MD–
If there is one thing that Cathy Reese does year after year, it is getting her team in the right place to win National Championship every year. Today was much of the same as it has been the past few games in College Park.
Florida seemed if they wanted to hang around in the first half, but it was the 8-1 goal scoring machine in the third period that was too much for the Gators to chomp on.
The Terps have now made 12 of the last 13 Final Fours under head coach Cathy Reese dating to 2009. Maryland has won 11 games in a row to stand at 19-1 heading to the NCAA Semifinals next Friday, May 27 at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. The Terps will play No. 3 seed Boston College at a time to be announced. The game will be on ESPNU.
“What a great day for our Terps,” said Reese “Super proud of our team all the way through. We settled in after the first quarter and we came out in the second half on fire. Our defense played great; both of our goalies made some great saves. Our offense, especially in the third quarter, really took care of the ball and put away some good opportunities. Congrats to Florida on a great season. Really proud of our effort today.
Maryland was led by 5 goal dominance by Libby May. This is the third game in a row and fifth time this season she has put up numbers like this. Very few players are able to stop her once the Terps have control of the ball.
