Washington, D.C–

After the strong start by UCONN tonight against Michigan State, we could hear some of their fans in attendance that they were glad that they saw a good game prior to that. This was until the second half rolled around and the Spartans seemed to look like a different team.

UCONN really put in the work early in the game and the close ending isn’t really reflective of the 24-6 start they had jumped out to with 10:38 remaining in the first half.

Michigan State was able to get this game where they needed when Coen Carr hit a 2 point jumper cutting the game to 33-23 with 2:09 remaining.

Jeremy Fears the go to guy all season long for Tom Izzo made it more of a game with 23 seconds remaining and closing gap to just 8 points at 35-27.

Whatever Izzo said at the half must have done quite bit more to get his team rolling.

As the second half rolled on the Spartans chipped away at the lead and had the game well within reach and it came down to the last 30 seconds of this game to see who would be moving on.

Fears would hit 1 of 2 free throws giving UCONN A 63-61 lead and forced Carson Cooper to try and miss the second free throw with 0:04 remaining, but it would fall short and the Huskies would survive the weekend in D.C

“I feel like I put in the work. The guys around me were like, ‘T, trust. We see you do free throw game every day, You put in the work every day and we see you at the free-throw line,’” Reed said. “So I took a deep breath and took my time at the line.”
