Washington Caps and Wizards Wives and Girlfriends Shop for D.C Needy Familes the Holidays

For anyone who has never had the chance to get what they wanted on Christmas morning or anytime during the holidays, today at WalMart in Northwest D.C came the chance for local D.C area families to have that Happy Holiday moment courtesy of the Washington Capitals and Washigton Wizards wives and Monumental Sports and 1

Capitals better halves Mandy Alzner (Karl Alzner), Carmen Brouwer (Troy Brouwer), Sarah Chimera (Jason Chimera), Amelia Falk (Marcus Johannsson), Kim Trotz (head coach Barry Trotz), Courtney Parrie Green (Mike Green), Erin Orpik (Brooks Orpik) and Claire Volpatti (Aaron Volpatti), Mystics guard Tierra Ruffin-Pratt and Wizards better halves Courtney Webster (Martell Webster) and Lauren Hilario (Nene)  shopped for 73 children and 24 adults which will later be a part of holiday function and gift presentation in December.

This will be the fourth season the Capitals, Mystics and Wizards have joined forces to participate in the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Family-to-Family program. In December the teams will deliver presents to a number of the families and will host all for a holiday event at a to be determined date.

“It means a lot to for us to give to these families who would not have the opportunity otherwise, said Mandy Alzner, wife of Caps Forward Karl Alzner.  “We have the chance to make a difference and today is a perfect example of how we can all make a difference.”

To see the amout of toys and gifts flowing from the baskets on several different aisles and to have the cashiers ringing these gifts knowing that they are also taking part in making a difference.

“It is amazing to see all of these beautiful ladies out here today,” said Shavon a WalMart Cashier. I like knowing I am ringing up these gifts to make a difference for someone in the area.
