Washington, D.C–

There have been quite a few games this season where you have to wonder did the Wizards even bother showing up to play. Then there is a game like tonight against the Bucks where not only did the battle back from 20 plus points down, the actually won the game 129-126.

On nights where both Khris Middleton and C.J McCollum are on; this Wizards team can run with the best teams in the league and tonight was one of those games.

The Bucks took the Wizards down to the wire, but the Wizards were able to grab a two-point lead on Middleton’s 3-pointer with 52.2 seconds remaining.

What happened in the final few seconds and the how Giannis Antetokounmpo came close, but it was like the first half all over again when he was called for a violation in the first half for not shooting a free throw quickly enough. He was fouled with 39.3 seconds left and made one of two. Then McCollum stepped back and sank a 3-pointer at the end of the shot clock to make it 127-123. This would prove to be enough to hold off a Bucks team that seems to be having a few struggles of their own.

So now that the Wizards have won 2 of the last 3 games, what’s next for this 3-16 team? A trip to face the Sixers tomorrow night.

One of the notables for the night was the Wizards were able to hold off the Bucks without Alex Sarr and Corey Kispert off the bench.

Kevin Porter Jr. scored 30 points for Milwaukee in his second game back from knee surgery. This was only the third game all season for Porter, who dealt with a sprained ankle and then a meniscus tear in his right knee.
